Riyadh: Saudi Arabia's Defense Ministry announced early Thursday that its air defenses successfully intercepted and destroyed three cruise missiles southeast of the capital city.
According to Anadolu Agency, the Defense Ministry specified that the missiles were intercepted and neutralized outside the city of Al-Kharj. The disclosure underscores ongoing security challenges facing the region.
The previous day, the Defense Ministry reported an attack targeting the Ras Tanura oil refinery on Saudi Arabia's Arabian Gulf coast. A ministry spokesperson indicated on the US social media company X's platform that the incident was initially assessed to have been carried out by a drone. Fortunately, the attack resulted in no damage to the facility.
