Riyadh: A Saudi American summit commenced in the capital city of Riyadh on Tuesday, featuring the presence of US President Donald Trump and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

According to Anadolu Agency, the summit is being held at the Al-Yamamah Palace, where new agreements between Saudi Arabia and the United States are expected to be formalized.

In a ceremonious welcome at the royal palace, Trump was received by bin Salman and provided an official reception. The event saw the participation of officials and business leaders from both nations, including Trump's adviser and tech billionaire Elon Musk, who engaged in brief discussions with the leaders.

The agenda for the summit encompasses a range of political, security, defense, economic, and investment topics, notably including discussions on artificial intelligence (AI) and other areas of mutual interest. An official statement is anticipated following the conclusion of their talks.

This visit marks Trump's first overseas trip since he assumed office in January, with his itinerary also including stops in Qatar and the United Arab Emirates (UAE). As a gesture of welcome, Trump's presidential aircraft was accompanied by Saudi fighter jets upon entering Saudi airspace.

Trump's previous visit to Saudi Arabia in 2017 during his first presidential term resulted in the signing of deals worth approximately $460 billion, including arms agreements exceeding $100 billion. Analysts project that Trump's schedule will cover a broad spectrum of regional and global issues, such as trade, investment, AI, the conflict in Ukraine, security in the Red Sea, and the Iranian nuclear issue, with significant coordination anticipated between the US and its key Gulf partners.
