Scottish Leader Urges UK to Play Its Full Part in Putting a Stop to Gaza Genocide

Beijing: China on Monday announced its openness to global talent, following US President Donald Trump's recent policy change regarding H-1B visas.

According to Anadolu Agency, President Trump signed a proclamation requiring companies to pay $100,000 annually for H-1B worker visas, prompting China to emphasize its welcoming stance towards international professionals. The Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman, Guo Jiakun, articulated this position, highlighting the importance of cross-border talent flow in driving technological progress and economic development.

Guo Jiakun stated, "China welcomes outstanding talents from all industries and areas across the world to come to China, take root in China, and jointly promote the continuous progress of human society and achieve success in their careers." While expressing China's open-door policy, Guo refrained from commenting directly on the US's new visa policy.

The US's new visa policy announcement has resulted in widespread confusion. However, the White House swiftly issued a clarification regarding the new $100,000 fee for H-1B visas. White House spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt clarified through the social media company X that this fee would not impact existing visa holders reentering the US. She emphasized, "This is NOT an annual fee. It's a one-time fee that applies only to the petition," aiming to alleviate concerns among businesses and individuals affected by the policy.

In contrast, Beijing has recently liberalized its visa regime, allowing people from numerous countries to visit China without needing a visa, further underscoring China's intent to attract global talent.
