New york: Air-raid sirens sounded across central Israel on Thursday as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was holding a press conference, following missile launches from Iran. A military statement said that it had identified missiles launched from Iran toward Israeli territory, triggering warning sirens in several areas.

According to Anadolu Agency, the sirens blared out as Netanyahu was holding a press conference to speak about the ongoing US-Israeli offensive on Iran, media reports said. No immediate information was yet available on casualties or damage.

Regional tensions flared up since Israel and the US launched a joint attack on Iran since Feb. 28 that has so far killed some 1,300 people and injured over 10,000 others, according to Iranian authorities. Tehran retaliated with drone and missile strikes targeting Israel, Iraq, and Gulf countries that are home to US military assets.
