Sisi Rejects Threats to Nile Water and Palestinian Displacement

Cairo:Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi has firmly rejected any threats to Egypt's rights to Nile waters and attempts to displace Palestinians or undermine the Gaza ceasefire agreement.

According to Anadolu Agency, Sisi made these remarks on Monday while chairing a meeting of the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces at the Strategic Command headquarters in the New Administrative Capital. The meeting coincided with celebrations of the 53rd anniversary of Egypt's 1973 war against Israel.

Sisi emphasized that the Nile is Egypt's lifeline and that its water share is a non-negotiable right. He stressed that Egypt is committed to cooperation with Nile Basin countries but will defend its water security by all means under international law.

Addressing the Palestinian issue, Sisi reiterated Egypt's rejection of displacing Palestinians and called for the full implementation of the US-brokered Gaza ceasefire plan. He underscored the establishment of an independent Palestinian state as essential for peace in the Middle East, citing Egypt's peace agreement with Israel as a precedent for resolving conflicts.

Sisi also highlighted regional challenges, noting crises in the Middle East and global changes impacting stability. He affirmed Egypt's support for Arab unity and condemned attacks on Arab countries.

Finally, Sisi assured that Egypt's armed forces are prepared to defend the nation and its interests at all times.
