South Korea and India Urge Nationals to Evacuate Iran Amid US Military Strike Fears

Tehran: South Korea and India have issued warnings for their citizens to exit Iran, citing escalating tensions and the potential for a US military offensive, as stated in recent embassy announcements.

According to Anadolu Agency, the South Korean Embassy in Iran released a safety notice on its website, cautioning that the country's security situation might worsen swiftly. The notice urged South Korean nationals to keep a close watch on media reports and embassy updates, and to take necessary measures for their personal safety. The embassy highlighted recent media coverage pointing to heightened regional tensions, with a possible US attack on Iran and subsequent threats of retaliation from Tehran.

South Koreans currently in Iran were advised to leave immediately unless their presence is absolutely necessary. Additionally, the embassy recommended that those planning to visit Iran either cancel or delay their trips.

In a separate advisory posted on Monday via the US social media platform X, the Indian Embassy in Tehran instructed its citizens to depart Iran using any available means, including commercial flights. The embassy further advised citizens to reach out for assistance if needed and provided emergency contact numbers.

These advisories come in the wake of the US increasing its military footprint in the Middle East. The USS Abraham Lincoln carrier strike group, along with additional fighter jets, has already been deployed to the region, and the USS Gerald R. Ford is reportedly en route.

US President Donald Trump, last Thursday, outlined a 10- to 15-day period for negotiations with Iran to yield results, failing which military options would be considered. He reiterated these threats on Friday, indicating a potential limited strike to coerce Iran into a 'serious' agreement.

A new round of nuclear negotiations between the parties is scheduled to take place in Geneva, Switzerland, on Thursday, as confirmed by Oman's foreign minister on Sunday.
