Damascus: The Syrian Interior Ministry announced on Monday the start of a process to regularize the status of defectors from the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in the eastern Deir ez-Zor province, as well as in the northern Aleppo province.

According to Anadolu Agency, the ministry stated that the Internal Security Command in Deir ez-Zor has started receiving members affiliated with the SDF who wish to regularize their status at a designated center in the province, following the surrender of their weapons to security authorities. This initiative aims to enhance stability in the region, offering an opportunity for individuals to return to civilian life, obtain civil documents, and resume normal activities.

The ministry also confirmed that the Internal Security Command in Aleppo province has begun a similar process. SDF members wishing to regularize their status can do so at the designated center located in the Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood, again requiring the handover of weapons to the relevant security authorities.

On Saturday, the Syrian government extended a ceasefire with the SDF by 15 days. This extension followed the conclusion of a four-day truce with the SDF, as the authorities considered their next steps after the agreement expired.
