Turkish Stock Exchange Falls as Week Begins

Istanbul: Trkiye's benchmark stock index opened the week with a decline, dropping 0.49% or 63.38 points to reach 12,929.33.

According to Anadolu Agency, this comes after the BIST 100 index saw a rise of 1.1% on Friday, closing at a historic high of 12,992.71 points. The daily transaction volume on that day was 181.6 billion liras, equivalent to $4.18 billion.

As of 9.50 am local time (0650GMT), the exchange rates for currencies stood at 43.3825 for the US dollar against the Turkish lira, 51.4855 for the euro/lira, and 59.3325 for the British pound/lira.

The commodity market showed the price of an ounce of gold at $5,109.9, while Brent crude oil was trading at $65.55 per barrel.
