Three EU Ambassadors Meet with Russian Deputy Foreign Minister in Moscow

Moscow: Ambassadors from the UK, France, and Germany in Moscow attended a meeting with Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin at the Russian Foreign Ministry. The meeting focused on the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict and the policies of the ambassadors' respective countries.

According to Anadolu Agency, the Russian Foreign Ministry issued a statement indicating that the ambassadors were given 'objective assessments of the destructive policies of their countries' leaderships' concerning the Russia-Ukraine war. The statement suggested that these policies were aimed at encouraging Ukraine to persist in the conflict.

The ministry further elaborated on the Russian side's fundamental approaches to achieving a political and diplomatic resolution to the conflict by addressing its root causes. The meeting was reportedly held at the request of the ambassadors themselves.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov had earlier announced that the three ambassadors had sought a meeting with Deputy Foreign Minister Galuzin. Lavrov expressed curiosity about how the ambassadors would present any ideas that could potentially lead to constructive discussions.

The meeting comes in the wake of a gathering hosted by British Prime Minister Keir Starmer in London, which included French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in the E3-plus-Ukraine format.
