Trade deficit down by 17% due to decline in value of imports

Cyprus' trade deficit dropped by an 17% to pound 4.31 billion for the period of January to July compared to pound 5.19 billion in the respective period of last year, according to preliminary data published by the Statistical Service of Cyprus (Cystat). According to Cystat, total imports of goods in January-July 2024 amounted to pound 6.619.1 mn compared to pound 7,597.2 mn in January-July 2023, recording a decrease of 129%. Total exports of goods in January-July 2024 were down by 3.8% year on year to pound 2,311.3 mn in January-July 2023 compared to pound 2,403.3 mn in the respective period of last year, Cystat added.
