Trkiye Attracts $10.6 Billion in Foreign Direct Investments from January to August 2025

Ankara: Foreign direct investments (FDI) to Trkiye in the first eight months of 2025 totaled $10.6 billion, as per data released by the International Investors Association. The figure represents a 58% increase compared to the same period last year.

According to Anadolu Agency, the Netherlands emerged as the leading investor in Trkiye, contributing $2.5 billion, followed by Kazakhstan and Luxembourg, each investing $1.1 billion. European Union countries significantly increased their share in Trkiye's FDI, accounting for 91% from January to August 2025, compared to a 58% share from 2002 to 2024.

The sectors that attracted the most investment during this period were wholesale and retail trade, with $2.5 billion, followed by information and communications and food manufacturing, each receiving $1.2 billion. In August alone, Trkiye's FDI reached $1.8 billion, with debt instruments constituting $137 million and real estate sales to foreign nationals bringing in $202 million.

Investment liquidations in August had a negative impact of $494 million. Overall, total investment capital inflows for August amounted to $1.5 billion, with the information and communication services sector capturing 69% of this, equating to $1 billion. The wholesale and retail trade sector attracted 10% of the total equity capital inflows for the month.

Luxembourg dominated the FDI landscape in August with a 71% share, followed by the Netherlands at 14%. Switzerland, Azerbaijan, and Ireland contributed 2% each to the investments.
