Trkiye, Egypt Sign Letter of Intent on Defense Industry Cooperation

Ankara: Trkiye and Egypt have taken a significant step towards enhancing their defense industry relations by signing a letter of intent to establish a framework for closer cooperation. This development was announced by Haluk Gorgun, the Turkish defense industry chief, during a meeting held on Monday.

According to Anadolu Agency, Gorgun, who serves as the secretary of Turkish Defense Industries, hosted Egyptian Defense and Military Production Minister Lt. Gen. Ashraf Salem Zaher along with his delegation in Ankara. The discussions between the two sides centered on exploring opportunities for defense industry cooperation and identifying potential areas for joint capability development. In a statement shared on the US social media platform X, Gorgun confirmed the signing of a Letter of Intent that will outline the cooperation framework moving forward.

Gorgun emphasized that this deeper collaboration in the defense industry is expected to contribute positively to regional security and enhance the capabilities of both Trkiye and Egypt. He expressed gratitude to Zaher and the Egyptian delegation for engaging in what he described as productive discussions.

Earlier, the Turkish National Defense Minister, Yasar Guler, also met with Zaher, who holds the position of commander-in-chief of the Egyptian Armed Forces, underscoring the importance of the bilateral talks.
