Trkiye: Trkiye's Foreign Ministry has extended its condolences following a devastating earthquake in Colombia that resulted in the loss of at least 111 lives. "We extend our condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in the earthquake and to the people of Colombia and wish a speedy recovery to those injured," the ministry stated.

According to Anadolu Agency, the Turkish Embassy in Bogota is actively communicating with Turkish citizens in Colombia and monitoring the situation closely. The Foreign Ministry expressed deep sorrow over the fatalities and the extensive material damage caused by the earthquake.

The earthquake, which struck early Monday, registered a magnitude of 7.4 and caused widespread destruction in western Colombia. It led to the collapse of buildings and initiated extensive rescue operations across several cities. President Abelardo De La Espriella reported that, in addition to the 111 fatalities, at least 87 people sustained injuries.

Significant infrastructure damage was reported, with 1,575 homes affected, 37 of which were completely destroyed. Moreover, 61 buildings collapsed, alongside damage to 18 health centers, 52 educational centers, 17 community centers, and 18 roads. In response, the Colombian government declared a national disaster to enhance coordination and mobilization efforts for the emergency response.

The earthquake's epicenter was located approximately 5 kilometers east of San Jose del Palmar, with a depth of 107 kilometers. An aftershock with a magnitude of 5.0 followed at 8:18 a.m., striking 16 kilometers west of San Jose del Palmar. Fortunately, the US Tsunami Warning Center confirmed that no tsunami threat exists for the US West Coast or British Columbia, and Colombian authorities have ruled out any tsunami risk for their Pacific coast as well.
