Ankara: President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced that Trkiye has become one of the 11 countries capable of producing its own communications satellite. "With TURKSAT 6A, which we developed using 84 domestic components with a localization rate of over 80%, Trkiye has risen to become one of only 11 countries capable of producing its own communications satellite," Erdogan stated.

According to Anadolu Agency, Erdogan spoke at the TURKSAT 6A commissioning ceremony in Ankara, where he highlighted the global impact of the satellite's launch. The launch of TURKSAT 6A will expand the population coverage of Turkish satellites from 3.5 billion to 5 billion people worldwide. The satellite is set to serve for at least 15 years, increasing the number of communications satellites operated by TURKSAT to six and bringing Trkiye's total number of satellites in space to 10.

Erdogan emphasized that the new geostationary communications satellite will offer wide coverage for services such as television broadcasting and emergency communications. He expressed optimism about Trkiye's future, noting that a historic opportunity is emerging for the country on the global stage, which could allow Trkiye to achieve its rightful place in the international system.
