Doha: Trkiye is prepared to "do whatever it takes" to support ongoing peace efforts concerning Gaza, as stated by the foreign minister on Saturday. Hakan Fidan made these remarks during the 23rd edition of the Doha Forum in Qatar's capital when asked about the possibility of Ankara sending troops to Gaza.

According to Anadolu Agency, Fidan discussed comprehensive talks concerning the formation of an International Stabilization Force (ISF) in Gaza. He elaborated on the ongoing assessments regarding the deployment, mission, and operational rules of this force. Fidan emphasized the importance of a realistic approach in setting expectations for the force's mission due to existing field realities.

Fidan suggested that the primary objective of deploying the ISF should be to separate Palestinians from Israelis along the border line, followed by addressing other issues. He also mentioned the necessity of establishing and training a police force and forming local administrations to create a peace committee for the ISF's effectiveness.

The Turkish foreign minister noted that while it remains uncertain which countries will contribute to the force, the process will evolve gradually post-deployment. He highlighted Ankara's open-door policy after the Syrian civil war, emphasizing its humanitarian goals and the need for international cooperation to stabilize Syria.

Fidan remarked on US President Donald Trump's mediation and peacebuilding efforts, aligning them with Trkiye's interests, and reiterated Ankara's call for a ceasefire in Ukraine and Gaza. Regarding the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war, he stressed Europe's need for "more creative solutions" to enhance resilience.

Fidan advocated for earnest and forceful engagement in peace talks as the viable solution to conclude the war, acknowledging the trust issues between Europe and Russia. Despite these challenges, he pointed out the ongoing good mediation efforts.
