Damascus: Turkish Chief of General Staff Gen. Selcuk Bayraktaroglu was received by Syrian President Ahmad al-Shara during an official visit to the capital Damascus on Friday. Bayraktaroglu's visit marks a significant engagement between the two nations' military leaderships.

According to Anadolu Agency, Bayraktaroglu, along with Deputy Chief of General Staff Gen. Levent Ergun, also held discussions with Syrian Defense Minister Murhaf Abu Qasra and Chief of General Staff Ali Noureddine al-Naasan. These talks were part of a broader visit aimed at addressing mutual concerns and enhancing cooperation. The Turkish Defense Ministry highlighted this meeting on the US social media platform X, indicating its importance in the context of regional security.

Bayraktaroglu further inspected the Trkiye-Syria joint operations center, which plays a crucial role in coordinating military efforts between the two countries. This inspection underscores the focus on operational collaboration and strategic alignment in the region.

In addition to his official meetings, Bayraktaroglu met with Trkiye's ambassador to Damascus, Burhan Koroglu, and the Turkish military attache. He also toured the Syrian Revolution Military Fair, reflecting a comprehensive approach to understanding Syria's military developments and fostering bilateral military relations.
