Trkiye’s Chief of General Staff Engages in NATO Military Committee Video Teleconference

Ankara: Trkiye's Chief of General Staff, Gen. Selcuk Bayraktaroglu, participated in a NATO Military Committee video teleconference meeting. The session was chaired by Admr. Giuseppe Cavo Dragone and included the Supreme Allied Commander Europe (SACEUR), Gen. Alexus Grynkewich, as well as the heads of defense from various NATO member countries.

According to Anadolu Agency, regional defense and security issues were the focal points of discussion during the meeting, as noted on Trkiye's social media platform NSosyal. In a separate event, the North Atlantic Council convened in an ambassadorial format. This meeting, led by NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, aimed to provide updates on the security environment in light of Iran's continued aggressive actions across the Middle East and beyond.

The discussions also involved a strong condemnation by the allies of the recent targeting of Trkiye. Full solidarity was expressed with Ankara, following an incident where a ballistic munition fired from Iran was intercepted. The Turkish National Defense Ministry confirmed that the missile, aimed at Turkish airspace, was neutralized by NATO air and missile defense units stationed in the Eastern Mediterranean.
