Ankara: Trkiye's National Defense Ministry has reported significant progress in its operations in Syria, stating that the total length of tunnels destroyed in the Syrian operational areas has reached 752 kilometers.

According to Anadolu Agency, ministry spokesman Rear Adm. Zeki Akturk detailed the developments during a weekly news briefing. He highlighted that five kilometers of tunnels were destroyed over the past week, bringing the total to 93% of the identified tunnel networks in Manbij. The operations aim to restore public order and safeguard citizens' safety across regions starting from Aleppo.

Akturk emphasized the importance of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and the People's Protection Units (YPG) complying with previous agreements to achieve lasting stability in Syria. He reiterated Ankara's commitment to supporting Syria in its fight against terrorism and in enhancing its defense capabilities.

The ministry also addressed an incident between Nusaybin and Qamishli, labeling it as an "organized provocation." The perpetrators have been identified, and relevant actions and administrative investigations are underway.

Additionally, the ministry is monitoring developments in Syria closely, prepared to take necessary actions if conditions allow. It noted that no official request has been received from Syrian authorities concerning prisons and camps holding ISIS/Daesh terrorists.

In related news, the Turkish Air Force Commander General Ziya Cemal Kadioglu visited Qatar for a trilateral meeting with commanders from Qatar's Air Force and the UK Royal Air Force. Discussions focused on the procurement of Typhoon aircraft, addressing pre-procurement training and further necessary steps, with talks reported to be proceeding positively.
