Miami: Tropical Storm Jerry developed over the central Atlantic Ocean's tropical waters, the US National Hurricane Center announced Tuesday.

According to Anadolu Agency, Jerry is forecast to pass near or just north of the northern Leeward Islands Thursday night and Friday. Interests in the area are advised to monitor the progress of the storm due to the risk of wind, surf, and rainfall impact.

The US National Hurricane Center has indicated that watches may be needed for parts of the area "later today or tonight."
