Trump Pledges Economic Support for Hungary if Orban Secures Re-election

Budapest: US President Donald Trump announced that his administration is ready to bolster Hungary’s economy with the full economic strength of the United States, contingent on Prime Minister Viktor Orban’s success in the upcoming election. This move represents Washington’s latest strategic effort to influence the election outcome in favor of the current Hungarian leadership.

According to Anadolu Agency, Trump conveyed his commitment via his Truth Social platform, stating, “My Administration stands ready to use the full economic might of the United States to strengthen Hungary’s economy, as we have done for our great allies in the past, if Prime Minister Viktor Orbán and the Hungarian people ever need it.” He further expressed enthusiasm for the potential prosperity that Orban’s leadership could bring.

The announcement coincides with a visit to Hungary by US Vice President JD Vance. During his visit, Vance met with Orban and publicly reaffirmed Washington’s support for the Hungarian Prime Minister. He critic
ized the European Union, accusing it of meddling in Hungary’s elections by influencing social media content visible to voters, which he described as “one of the worst examples of foreign and election interference.”

“I won’t tell the people of Hungary how to vote. I would encourage the bureaucrats in Brussels to do the exact same thing,” Vance said, emphasizing his trip as a celebration of “moral cooperation” and a defense of “Western civilization.”

As Hungary approaches its elections on Sunday, recent polling data compiled by Politico indicates that Orban’s Fidesz Party is trailing the opposition Tisza Party by 11 points.
