Trump Predicts Increased Iranian Actions Before Midterms, Suggests Renaming Strait of Hormuz

Tennessee:President Donald Trump suggested that Iran might intensify its actions ahead of the upcoming U.S. midterm elections on November 3, indicating that Tehran believes such actions could negatively impact the United States.

According to Anadolu Agency, Trump made these remarks during a campaign rally in Tennessee, asserting that while Iran might increase its activities, the U.S. could swiftly end the confrontation. He claimed to have demonstrated restraint towards Iran, despite asserting the destruction of the Iranian navy and the sinking of 159 Iranian ships since the conflict began.

Trump further speculated about the possibility of renaming the Strait of Hormuz to the "Trump Strait." The ongoing war with Iran, which started on February 28 following the launch by the U.S. and Israel, has been a significant issue in the midterm elections. Although Trump is not a candidate, he is actively campaigning for Republican candidates to maintain control of Congress.

The conflict has severely affected global energy prices due to the disruption of commercial oil traffic through the Strait of Hormuz. A framework agreement to halt hostilities was signed in June, mediated by Pakistan and Qatar. However, implementation has stalled due to disagreements over security and navigation in the strategic waterway.
