Washington: US President Donald Trump accused media outlets on Wednesday of using 'anonymous' or 'off the record' sources to publish "made up" stories, and threatened to sue those responsible. Trump wrote on Truth Social that the stories are 'defamatory fiction' and vowed to take legal action.

According to Anadolu Agency, Trump expressed his intention to potentially sue certain authors, book publishers, and even media outlets in general. He suggested that the "anonymous sources" mentioned in such stories do not exist and argued that these reports are a consequence of him having what he claims to be the "Best Opening Month of any President in history."

Trump further stated that someone should pay a "big price" for these news stories and hinted at the possibility of new legislation to address this issue. His comments came in the wake of a Financial Times report on Tuesday, which claimed that Trump adviser Peter Navarro had proposed expelling Canada from the Five Eyes intelligence network. This network includes Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the UK, and the US.

Peter Navarro dismissed the Financial Times report as 'nonsense' and 'crazy,' reinforcing Trump's stance that such stories are fabricated and not based on factual information.
