Trump Unveils ‘Super Intelligence Force’ to Shape US AI Strategy

Washington:US President Donald Trump announced the establishment of a "Super Intelligence Force" on Sunday to oversee federal efforts in maintaining the United States' leadership in advanced technology.

According to Anadolu Agency, Trump revealed the initiative following the historic White House Accord on Super Intelligence, where major technology firms committed to their responsibilities to the American public. He made the announcement on his social media platform, Truth Social, describing the sector as a transformation surpassing the Industrial Revolution and the internet. The Super Intelligence Force (SIF) aims to protect public interests while enhancing technological capabilities.

The task force will coordinate federal interactions with consumers, public interest groups, religious organizations, critical infrastructure providers, and commercial developers. The leadership team includes Director of National Intelligence Jay Clayton, Federal Trade Commission Chairman Andrew Ferguson, Under Secretary of War for Research and Engineering and Chief Technology Officer Emil Michael, and Office of Personnel Management Director Scott Kupor. The group will report directly to Trump and White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles.

The task force has 120 days to deliver its findings, as reported by The Wall Street Journal. It will review existing laws, propose potential legislative steps, and collaborate with the tech industry to identify risks and opportunities. The charter emphasizes developing responses to AI threats while avoiding regulations that could stifle innovation and competition.

Additionally, the group will evaluate reporting mechanisms for AI-related incidents like breaches and hacks and suggest improvements for federal responses. The formation of the task force follows a White House meeting between Trump and leading technology executives, including OpenAI President Greg Brockman, Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei, and Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang. During the meeting, Trump highlighted a "morally binding" agreement by major tech companies to implement AI controls, including internal safety measures and independent external reviews. He stressed the importance of maintaining US technological leadership with voluntary industry safeguards over stricter government regulations.
