Trump Urges Russia to Strike a Deal with Ukraine Amid Heavy Casualties

Washington: US President Donald Trump has urged Russia to "make a deal" with Ukraine, highlighting the significant loss of life on both sides since the conflict began in 2022. Trump emphasized the severity of the situation, noting that the casualties are unprecedented since World War II.

According to Anadolu Agency, Trump described the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war as "ridiculous" and reiterated his commitment to doing everything possible to resolve the conflict. He expressed concern over the heavy losses, stating, "Both sides have lost so many soldiers, not since WW2 has anything like this happened."

Trump further elaborated on the scale of the losses, mentioning that last month alone, 35,000 soldiers were lost between the two countries. He noted that the conflict sees an average of 25,000 casualties monthly, primarily affecting young soldiers. "Russia's lost tremendous amounts of people, and so has Ukraine," he said, calling the situation "crazy."

In addition to his remarks about the casualties, Trump revealed that he had spoken with President Vladimir Putin on Sunday about the relentless nature of the conflict. Trump also mentioned his "very good" meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy earlier on Tuesday, indicating ongoing diplomatic efforts to address the situation.
