Ankara:Turkey's national space program is poised to create new opportunities for youth entrepreneurship amid a global shift towards commercial competition in the space sector.
According to Anadolu Agency, Turkish Space Agency President Yusuf Kirac emphasized the need for Ankara to leverage its youth entrepreneurship capabilities within the aerospace industry. This push aims to secure a larger share of the rapidly expanding space economy.
Kirac, speaking at the 77th International Astronautical Congress, pointed out that the space economy's annual growth rate of up to 9% significantly surpasses the broader global economic growth rate of 3%. He mentioned plans to send astronauts Alper Gezeravci and Tuva Cihangir Atasever into orbit as part of Turkey's ambitious space initiatives.
Turkey aspires to become the ninth country to reach the Moon using domestic resources, with the Somali spaceport facilitating independent access to space. Additionally, the successful launch of a homegrown atomic clock for a geostationary navigation satellite marks a significant milestone in Turkey's National Space Program.
Kirac concluded by stating that ongoing tests and recent developments will elevate Turkey's status in the space sector. He underscored the importance of attracting more young entrepreneurs to participate in the space race.
