Ankara: Trkiye's Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan on Monday engaged in a phone conversation with his French counterpart, Jean-Noel Barrot, to discuss regional developments, Turkish diplomatic sources revealed. The two ministers focused on strategies to de-escalate tensions in the region and explored specific actions that could be implemented to halt ongoing attacks.

According to Anadolu Agency, this conversation follows recent calls Fidan had with his counterparts in Azerbaijan and Bulgaria. The discussions come in the wake of a significant escalation in the region, where the United States and Israel launched an attack on Iran on Saturday, resulting in the deaths of several top Iranian leaders, including Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

In response to the attack, Iran has launched a series of drone and missile strikes targeting Israel and several Gulf countries known to host US military assets and bases. The discussions between the Turkish and French foreign ministers underscore the urgent diplomatic efforts to address and manage these escalating tensions in the region.
