Ankara: Turkish Defense Firm ASFAT has signed a significant warship sales agreement with Romania, as reported by Turkish defense sources. This deal marks a pivotal moment as it is the first instance of Trkiye exporting a warship to a NATO and EU member state. The TCG Akhisar warship, completed in 2024 at the Istanbul Shipyard Command, is set to join the Romanian Naval Forces.

According to Anadolu Agency, the sale of the TCG Akhisar is seen as a testament to the reliability, quality, and technological capabilities of the Turkish defense industry on the global stage. ASFAT emphasized the milestone as a demonstration of the industry's competence in the international arena.

The company's statement highlights the advancement in military cooperation between Trkiye and Romania, noting that the warship's inclusion as a corvette in the Romanian inventory will enhance regional maritime security.
