Istanbul: Turkish prefabricated building company Karmod announced the delivery of a container-based worker dormitory for an industrial plant construction project in the Tuzla district of Istanbul. Known for its expertise in modular site structures, Karmod continues to implement container-based mobilization projects for industrial facilities and construction sites throughout Turkey.
According to Anadolu Agency, the Tuzla project includes a container worker dormitory designed to accommodate on-site personnel during the construction phase. Mustafa Soyalp, the container sales manager at Karmod, emphasized the company's focus on building site structures with strong safety and usability standards, highlighting features such as ergonomic design, fire safety, and sealing performance.
Soyalp noted that Turkey has over 2 million registered workers in the construction sector alone, with many employees depending on site accommodations across various projects, including energy, mining developments, mass housing, road construction, and industrial facilities. "As a result, the safety of site mobilization structures has become even more critical," Soyalp explained.
He further mentioned that issues like container fires and water leakage from roofs, along with inadequate climate control, are commonly encountered problems that need addressing. Karmod prioritizes fire safety and sealing systems in its container structures, with electrical installations for both single and combined container units engineered specifically for each building. "All electrical systems are completed under strict quality control using high-grade materials and secure connection equipment," Soyalp stated. "After production, all required tests are carried out before the units are delivered to the site."
Additionally, Karmod designs ergonomic container dormitories to provide construction workers with living spaces that offer the comfort of a home. For the Tuzla project, Karmod constructed a specially equipped dormitory building featuring 20 rooms, covering a total area of 294 square meters (3,164 square feet). The two-story structure includes a designated rest area and is designed to accommodate up to 40 personnel.
