Ankara: Trkiye’s Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and his Pakistani counterpart Ishaq Dar late Tuesday discussed the recent developments between Pakistan and India in a phone call, according to Turkish diplomatic sources. Further details were not immediately provided.
According to Anadolu Agency, earlier, India announced that it had launched midnight strikes on cities in Pakistan and Pakistan-administered Kashmir. The government of Pakistan responded by stating that the attack violates its sovereignty and that it reserves the right to respond accordingly.
The escalation between the nuclear-armed neighbors follows an attack on April 22 in Pahalgam, located in Indian-administered Kashmir, where 26 people were killed. India has accused Pakistan of being linked to the attack, citing cross-border connections, a claim that Pakistan has denied.
Following the April incident, both countries have taken a series of retaliatory measures against one another, including suspending visas and expelling diplomats.
