Istanbul: President of Turkish Religious Affairs Ali Erbas denounced the Israeli destruction in the Gaza Strip during an event held in Istanbul. According to Anadolu Agency, Erbas made his remarks at the conclusion of 'The Future of Gaza: International Humanitarian Aid Summit,' organized by the Turkish Religious Foundation and the Al Khair Foundation. He emphasized that remaining silent in the face of the tragedy in Gaza would not only exacerbate current suffering but would also leave lasting impacts on the conscience of future generations. Erbas expressed concerns about Israel's attacks on Gaza, which began on October 7, 2023. He pointed out that these attacks not only targeted innocent civilians but also undermined the common values of humanity and the foundational principles of international law. Highlighting the severe consequences of the attacks, Erbas stated that the loss of tens of thousands of innocent lives and the displacement of millions would leave deep social scars in Gaza for generations. He further detailed the devastation, noting that various settlements, hospitals, schools, places of worship, and civilian areas had been relentlessly targeted, leading to widespread destruction of cities, historical, and cultural heritage. Erbas also referenced Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's appeal for global cooperation to rebuild and support Gaza. He expressed hope that the summit would yield effective and positive outcomes for the region.
