Ankara: In a phone call, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez discussed bilateral relations as well as regional and global developments, Trkiye's Communications Directorate said on Tuesday. The conversation was centered around enhancing cooperation between the two nations, with a particular emphasis on defense and other fields.
According to Anadolu Agency, the directorate announced on Turkish social media platform NSosyal that President Erdogan expressed satisfaction with the solidarity between Trkiye and Spain, highlighting that it is appreciated by their peoples. Both leaders conveyed their intention to further advance the relations between their countries.
President Erdogan also addressed regional tensions, articulating Trkiye's disapproval of efforts aimed at the 'total destruction of Iran.' He voiced concerns over Iran's stance toward its neighbors and emphasized the importance of peace and diplomacy, urging everyone with a conscience to embrace these principles.
Moreover, Erdogan warned that if Israel's actions in Gaza and other areas are not curtailed, the region will continue to suffer from a lack of peace. He stressed the necessity for renewed diplomatic efforts to end the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war, stressing the need to 'revitalize negotiations' and urging the international community to engage more seriously in peace-focused efforts.
