Ankara: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has called for international intervention to halt the ongoing conflict in Gaza, stressing that the region is on the brink of 'total humanitarian collapse' due to Israeli military actions. Erdogan's appeal was published in an opinion piece on Al Jazeera, highlighting the urgent need for global attention and action.

According to Anadolu Agency, the article was announced by Trkiye's Communications Director, Burhanettin Duran, on the Turkish social media platform Next Sosyal. The piece, available in both English and Arabic, is titled 'The conscience of humanity is being tested in Gaza'. In it, Erdogan accuses Israel of pursuing 'a systematic policy of annihilation' against the Palestinian people.

Erdogan emphasized the dire conditions in Gaza, where hunger, thirst, and the looming threat of epidemic diseases are pushing the territory towards a humanitarian catastrophe. He stated that over 61,000 Palestinians, predominantly women and children, have lost their lives due to Israeli attacks.

Despite significant challenges, Erdogan noted that Trkiye has managed to deliver food, medicine, and medical supplies to Gaza with the aid of neighboring 'brotherly nations'. Additionally, Trkiye has facilitated the evacuation of wounded Palestinians to receive medical treatment on its soil.

In his efforts to address the crisis, Erdogan revealed that Ankara is actively advocating for a cease-fire through engagements with the United Nations and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, while also working to mediate discussions among Palestinian factions.
