UAE Forms National Committee to Document Iranian Attack Damages

Istanbul: The United Arab Emirates The United Arab Emirates has established a national committee to document the damage resulting from Iranian attacks against the Gulf state.

According to Anadolu Agency, UAE Vice President Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan issued a decree to form the committee. This move aims to reflect the UAE's institutional approach to documenting violations in line with the highest legal and technical standards. The committee comprises representatives from various federal and local ministries and entities, bringing together security, judicial, technical, and economic bodies to ensure comprehensive integration.

The committee's wide-ranging mandate includes documenting and monitoring all incidents of attacks and military actions linked to Iranian aggression. It will meticulously verify the nature, timing, and field circumstances of these events to establish a comprehensive account. The committee is responsible for collecting and analyzing evidence, documents, and technical, engineering, medical, and forensic reports according to national and international standards for documenting international crimes. It will also ensure the integrity of the legal chain of custody to enhance the credibility and legal admissibility of the evidence.

The committee will engage with relevant international organizations and bodies through official channels to ensure the accuracy and credibility of its documentation efforts. The UAE recently reported two days of missile and drone attacks from Iran, although Tehran denied conducting any strikes on UAE territory.

Regional tensions have heightened since the United States and Israel launched strikes on Iran on February 28, leading to retaliation from Tehran and disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz. A ceasefire took effect on April 8 through Pakistani mediation, but talks in Islamabad failed to reach a lasting agreement. The truce was later extended by US President Donald Trump without a set deadline.
