Abu dhabi: The United Arab Emirates announced that its air defense systems successfully engaged seven ballistic missiles and 16 drones originating from Iran. This development underscores the ongoing regional tensions and the UAE's commitment to protecting its national security and stability.

According to Anadolu Agency, the UAE's Defense Ministry released a statement detailing the country's defensive efforts since Iranian hostilities commenced on February 28. Since that time, UAE air defenses have intercepted a total of 352 ballistic missiles, 15 cruise missiles, and 1,789 drones. The ministry reported casualties including two soldiers and six civilians of various nationalities-Pakistani, Nepali, Bangladeshi, and Palestinian-along with 161 individuals injured from different countries.

The Defense Ministry emphasized its readiness to counter threats and safeguard the state's sovereignty, security, and stability. The UAE remains vigilant in confronting any attempts that aim to undermine its national interests and capabilities.

The regional conflict escalated following a joint offensive by the United States and Israel against Iran on February 28, resulting in significant casualties, including the death of then-Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. In response, Iran has launched drone and missile strikes against Israel and several Gulf countries hosting US military assets, leading to further casualties, infrastructure damage, and disruptions in global markets and aviation.
