Ukraine Claims Successful Strike on Russia’s Largest Oil Transshipment Port Terminal

Ukraine: Ukraine's General Staff announced on Tuesday that its military successfully targeted the Ust-Luga Oil terminal, Russia's largest port terminal for the transshipment of petroleum products, in a nighttime operation.

According to Anadolu Agency, preliminary reports confirmed that three storage tanks belonging to Transneft-Baltika in the Leningrad region were damaged. A statement on Telegram highlighted the strategic significance of this facility, labeling it as a critical component of Russia's petroleum export infrastructure, which generates revenue used to support military actions against Ukraine.

Leningrad Region Governor Alexander Drozdenko reported that 22 drones were intercepted and shot down over the region. The General Staff further detailed that a strike on the Transneft-Port Primorsk, located on the northeastern coast of the Gulf of Finland in the Baltic Sea on April 5, led to damage to three RVSP-20000-type storage tanks.

The RVSP-20000 tanks, with a capacity of 20,000 m³, are standard tanks used for long-term storage of oil and other flammable liquids. It was also confirmed that during the April 5 strike on Lukoil-Nizhegorodnefteorgsintez LLC in Kstovo, Nizhny Novgorod region, primary crude oil processing units AVT-6 and AVT-1, as well as Unit 19/6, which is used in bitumen production, sustained damage.

The Defense Forces of Ukraine reiterated their commitment to targeting key enemy facilities both within Ukraine's temporarily occupied territories and within the Russian Federation until the cessation of armed aggression against Ukraine is achieved.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated on Monday that Kyiv has proposed a mutual cessation of attacks on the energy sector with Russia. "If Russia is ready to stop strikes on our energy sector, we will be ready to respond in kind. This is our proposal - conveyed through the Americans - and the Russian side has it," he said.
