Ukraine Urges Swift Ceasefire with Russia Following Paris Talks

Paris: Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha on Thursday called for immediate action to establish a ceasefire with Russia, highlighting the necessity for heightened international pressure after high-level discussions in Paris with US and European allies.

According to Anadolu Agency, Sybiha’s meetings included talks with French Minister Jean-Noel Barrot, UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy, and German official Gunter Sautter. All parties recognized progress in peace efforts and emphasized the importance of American leadership in the negotiations.

Sybiha stated that Ukraine remains committed to peace efforts and is eager to see the conflict end promptly, citing Kyiv’s unconditional acceptance of a full interim ceasefire on March 11 in Jeddah as a demonstration of their dedication. He underscored the urgency of the situation, stating, “It needs to be done as soon as possible,” and stressed that intensifying pressure on Russia is essential for securing a fair and lasting peace.

The Ukrainian Foreign Minister reiterated the country’s firm position in the broader peace framework, noting that discussions also addressed long-term security guarantees and the future steps for the “coalition of the willing.” Sybiha expressed gratitude towards France, Germany, and the UK for their continued support and efforts to achieve a lasting peace.
