Rome: Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha held a series of high-level discussions with European and UK officials in Rome, aiming for additional sanctions against Russia and increased support for Ukraine's peace initiatives and reconstruction efforts.

According to Anadolu Agency, Sybiha took part in the Weimar+ meeting hosted by Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani. The meeting also included representatives from France, Germany, Spain, Poland, the UK, EU, and NATO. Sybiha emphasized the need to intensify pressure on Moscow to secure a full ceasefire and end ongoing violence. He urged for severe sanctions on Russia's energy and banking sectors, alongside a proposed $30 oil price cap.

The discussions also focused on preparations for forthcoming G7, EU, and NATO summits, as well as the Ukraine Recovery Conference scheduled in Rome next month. In a separate meeting with EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas, Sybiha reiterated Ukraine's commitment to a full ceasefire, accusing Russia of hindering peace efforts and escalating civilian terror. They also coordinated strategies to return forcibly deported Ukrainian children and to bolster EU sanctions.

In talks with German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul, Sybiha acknowledged Berlin's role as Europe's largest military assistance provider. They agreed to coordinate further air defense support and joint actions to amplify pressure on Russia. Additionally, Sybiha met with UK State Minister Stephen Doughty to explore deepening the bilateral strategic partnership and enhancing joint diplomatic efforts to achieve a 'just and lasting peace.' Sybiha expressed gratitude for the UK's steadfast support and leadership in bolstering Ukraine and shared security.
