Ankara: Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal met with Germany's newly appointed Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul in Lviv, where he called for continued support from Berlin and the timely implementation of the next round of EU sanctions against Russia.

According to Anadolu Agency, Shmyhal expressed his welcome of Wadephul's appointment on X, highlighting the hope for ongoing cooperation with the new German government. He emphasized Germany's crucial role within the EU, particularly concerning sanctions, stating, "We expect the 17th package of EU sanctions to be implemented soon."

During the meeting, Shmyhal extended his gratitude to German businesses operating in Ukraine and encouraged future investment in the country's reconstruction efforts. He also acknowledged Germany's contributions in military, financial, and humanitarian areas and expressed appreciation for the support from the German population.
