US and Israeli Warplanes Strike Petrochemical Complex in Iran’s Shiraz

Shiraz: US and Israeli warplanes struck a petrochemical complex in Iran's southwestern city of Shiraz on Monday, marking the second such attack during the day, Iranian media reported.

According to Anadolu Agency, the semi-official Mehr News Agency cited local authorities in Marvdasht County in Fars province, stating that a small section of the Shiraz facility sustained damage in the attack. This strike followed closely after US and Israeli fighter jets bombed petrochemical production facilities in the Pars Special Economic Energy Zone in Asaluyeh, also located in southwestern Iran.

Regional tensions have been on the rise since the US and Israel launched a joint offensive on Iran on February 28, resulting in the death of more than 1,340 people, including then-Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. In response, Tehran has conducted drone and missile strikes targeting Israel, as well as Jordan, Iraq, and other Gulf countries where US military assets are stationed. Additionally, Iran has taken measures to restrict the movement of ships through the critical Strait of Hormuz.
