Washington: Initial jobless claims in the US reached 222,000 for the week ending April 19, marking an increase of 6,000 from the previous week's revised figure. This rise aligns with market expectations.

According to Anadolu Agency, the previous week's jobless claims were adjusted upward by 1,000 to a total of 216,000, as detailed in the Labor Department's report released on Thursday. The four-week moving average, a measure used to smooth out volatility in the weekly figures, was recorded at 220,250, reflecting a decrease of 750 from the prior week's revised average.

The report also indicated that the seasonally adjusted insured unemployment rate remained steady at 1.2% for the week ending April 12, with no change from the previous week's unrevised rate. The seasonally adjusted insured unemployment figure stood at 1.88 million, showing a downward revision of 7,000 from the previous week.
