Bandar abbas: A US-Israeli strike targeted a radio transmitter tower at the Persian Gulf Radio and Television Center in Iran's southern port city of Bandar Abbas, resulting in the death of a security staff member and injuring another individual, as reported by the Iranian state broadcaster IRIB on Monday. The attack has raised concerns over the escalating tensions in the region.

According to Anadolu Agency, the director general of the center condemned the attack, stating that it violated international law by targeting the 100-kilowatt AM radio transmitter tower. Despite the damage, broadcasts from the center resumed normally following the incident, as confirmed by IRIB.

Bandar Abbas is strategically located on the northern shore of the Strait of Hormuz and is a crucial Iranian port. It is also home to a significant Iranian naval base, underscoring the potential implications of the strike on regional security.

The US-Israeli strikes against Iran, which commenced on February 28, have reportedly resulted in the deaths of at least 1,300 individuals, including the former Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. In retaliation, Iran has launched drone and missile strikes targeting Israel, Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf countries hosting US military assets, further escalating regional tensions.
