Washington: The US Treasury Department has lifted Ethiopia-related sanctions from its Specially Designated Nationals and Blocked Persons (SDN) List. This decision comes after the expiration of a national emergency initially declared due to Ethiopia's humanitarian and human rights issues.

According to Anadolu Agency, the Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) confirmed that the national emergency, which was declared under Executive Order 14046 on September 17, 2021, has now expired. As a result, OFAC has removed from the SDN List those individuals and entities that were designated under the order, and whose assets were previously blocked.

In a separate move, OFAC has also amended a Russia-related license. This amendment permits specific negotiations, agreements, and activities concerning the potential sale of oil giant Lukoil's international assets, which are managed through its subsidiary, Lukoil International GmbH.
