US Mission Alerts Americans in Saudi Arabia to Increased Security Risks

Ankara:The US Mission in Saudi Arabia has issued a security alert, urging Americans in the kingdom to exercise heightened vigilance due to hostilities and Houthi threats against airports and airspace.

According to Anadolu Agency, the alert highlighted that the Houthis have engaged in hostilities against Saudi Arabia, including attacks on civilian airports, with the potential for military conflict escalation.

Americans were warned of possible flight cancellations, airspace closures, and other travel disruptions. Travelers are advised to verify flight statuses with airlines and airports. The mission also recommended avoiding travel near the Yemeni border and following Saudi Civil Defense alerts.

US government employees in Saudi Arabia are prohibited from traveling within 20 miles of the Yemeni border and require special authorization for travel to Jizan, Asir, Najran, Qatif, Yanbu, and Taif.

The mission advised Americans to remain aware of their surroundings, avoid demonstrations and large gatherings, and monitor media for updates, following instructions from Saudi authorities.

The alert follows a similar warning from the UK Embassy, which has advised British nationals of ongoing missile and drone attacks in the kingdom targeting various sites, urging compliance with local directives and subscription to UK Foreign Office travel alerts. The warnings come amid increased tensions between Yemen's Houthis and the Saudi-led coalition.
