Washington: The White House ruled out deploying US ground forces in Ukraine while confirming air support remains under consideration as part of security guarantees.

According to Anadolu Agency, White House spokesperson Karoline Leavitt informed reporters that President Donald Trump has explicitly stated that US boots will not be on the ground in Ukraine. However, the administration is prepared to assist in coordination and potentially provide other means of security guarantees to European allies.

Leavitt stated that President Trump has directed his national security team to develop a framework for lasting peace through security guarantees. She emphasized the importance of such guarantees for ensuring enduring peace and confirmed that Trump has ordered continued coordination with European allies, as well as ongoing discussions with Ukraine and Russia.

When questioned about the possibility of air support as a security guarantee, Leavitt acknowledged that it was mentioned by the president in a recent interview as a viable option.

In an interview with Fox News, Trump suggested that the US might provide air support to aid European countries willing to deploy ground forces, highlighting the unique capabilities of US military resources.

Leavitt also described Trump's recent meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska as "very productive," noting that it led to agreements on several key points that opened the door for further discussions. Additionally, she confirmed ongoing efforts to arrange a meeting between Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, underscoring Trump's stance that disagreements in the conflict need to be addressed directly by the two nations involved.
