WHO Chief Announces Successful Evacuation of Six Patients from Gaza to Jordan.

Amman: The World Health Organization (WHO) has successfully evacuated six patients from Gaza to Jordan, including three children, as announced by the UN health agency’s chief on Thursday. The evacuation, which included seven companions accompanying the patients, was a collaborative effort by WHO and its partners.

According to Anadolu Agency, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, the WHO chief, shared on X that two of these patients will be further transferred to the United States, while the remaining four will receive specialized care in Jordan. Among the evacuated patients, four are suffering from war-related injuries, and two require cancer treatment. Tedros expressed gratitude towards the partners who facilitated this critical operation.

In his statement, Tedros emphasized the urgent need for medical evacuation corridors, highlighting that approximately 12,000 patients in Gaza are in dire need of specialist health care outside the region. He called for the use of all possible channels to ensure these patients rece
ive the necessary medical attention.

The backdrop of this medical evacuation is the ongoing conflict in Gaza, where Israel has been engaged in a war following a Hamas attack last year. The conflict has resulted in the deaths of over 44,000 people, predominantly women and children, and has left more than 104,000 individuals injured.
