Xi Jinping Pledges Continued Support for Venezuela’s Sovereignty

Beijing: China's President Xi Jinping has announced that China will maintain its support for Venezuela in defending its national sovereignty and social stability. This commitment was made public through a Chinese government statement following Xi's meeting with Venezuelan President Nicol¡s Maduro in Moscow. The leaders were present in Russia to participate in the 80th anniversary of Victory Day commemorations against Nazi Germany.

According to Anadolu Agency, Xi Jinping expressed China's willingness to collaborate with Venezuela to enhance their cooperative efforts. President Maduro reciprocated by expressing Venezuela's intent to deepen cooperation with China in areas such as trade, energy, agriculture, and science and technology.

In a separate discussion, Xi Jinping engaged in talks with Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, expressing China's readiness to deepen strategic communication, increase mutual support, and bolster trade and investment cooperation with Serbia. Xi assured continued Chinese support for relevant construction and operational projects in Serbia. President Vucic reaffirmed Serbia's commitment to the one-China principle, acknowledging Taiwan as an integral part of China.

Xi Jinping also held discussions with Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel, where both leaders emphasized the importance of strengthening cooperation in international affairs. Xi reiterated China's strong support for Cuba in safeguarding its national sovereignty and opposing external interference and blockades. President Diaz-Canel expressed gratitude for China's longstanding support for Cuba's economic and social development and reiterated his support for the one-China policy.

Furthermore, in a meeting with Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico, Xi Jinping advocated for a steady and long-term development of China-Europe relations. He expressed hope that Slovakia would play an active role in this development. Prime Minister Fico voiced support for the one-China policy and expressed appreciation for China's stance on global issues such as Ukraine and the Middle East.
