Ankara: Yemen's internationally recognized government on Tuesday strongly condemned Houthi missile and drone attacks on Saudi cities, expressing its 'full solidarity' with the kingdom.

According to Anadolu Agency, the Yemeni Foreign Ministry stated that the attacks targeted civilian areas in Khamis Mushait, Abha, and Taif on Monday, resulting in injuries to 13 civilians and damage to homes and vehicles. The ministry labeled the attacks as a 'blatant violation' of Saudi sovereignty and a threat to its security, accusing the Houthis of deliberately targeting civilians to escalate regional tensions.

The statement reaffirmed Yemen's support for Saudi Arabia and emphasized its right to take necessary measures to protect its citizens, residents, and territory in line with international law. Additionally, the ministry rejected the use of Yemeni territory for launching attacks on neighboring countries and urged the international community to take a firm stance against Houthi aggression. It called for efforts to curb the group's sources of funding and weapons and to support the Yemeni government in restoring state institutions.

The Saudi-led coalition reported that 13 civilians suffered minor to moderate injuries due to the Houthi ballistic missile and drone attacks on Khamis Mushait, Abha, and Taif on Monday. The attacks also resulted in damage to seven homes and two vehicles.

The recent attacks occur amid escalating tensions between Saudi Arabia and the Houthis. The group claimed responsibility for a large-scale attack using ballistic missiles and drones against King Khalid Air Base in Khamis Mushait on Monday, accusing Saudi Arabia of conducting numerous airstrikes in Yemen in recent days.
