Yemeni Army Conducts Airstrikes on Houthi Positions Amid Escalating Conflict

Taiz:The Yemeni army has carried out airstrikes on Houthi positions in the southwestern province of Taiz as part of a broader military escalation taking place across the country.

According to Anadolu Agency, the army's Taiz Military Axis announced that the airstrikes targeted Houthi positions, gatherings, and vehicles at locations including al-Maqrami, al-Jaasha, and al-Sallal hills east of Taiz city, as well as Hisn al-Mukhaf and the Bala'an area on the Aqrouz front in the southern part of the province. The statement did not mention any casualties or damage resulting from the strikes.

In the capital Sanaa, Yemeni media outlets, including the independent Yemen Future platform, reported additional strikes but did not specify the responsible parties or any details about casualties or damage.

Meanwhile, in Saada, the Houthi-run Saba news agency reported six Saudi airstrikes in Majz district and Saada city, along with rocket fire in Sahar district.

Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Saree has declared that attacks on Saudi airports will continue, disregarding international and UN appeals for a halt. In a social media post, Saree cautioned airlines, aviation personnel, and travelers about potential targeting of Saudi airports and airspace.

This warning followed a deadly Houthi strike on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, which resulted in 12 deaths and injured 309 people, According to Saudi General Authority of Civil Aviation. The hostilities in Yemen, which have intensified since July, have also begun affecting neighboring Saudi Arabia.

The ongoing conflict in Yemen began when the Houthis seized control of Sanaa and other provinces in September 2014, leading to intervention by a Saudi-led coalition in March 2015 to support the Yemeni government.
