Riyadh:A fire erupted at Terminal 4 of King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh after being hit by an unidentified projectile, as reported by the Saudi-led coalition.
According to Anadolu Agency, the coalition stated that relevant authorities were responding to the fire, but did not provide details on the extent of the damage or possible casualties. They later reported that air defenses intercepted and destroyed a cruise missile near the airport, without clarifying if it was linked to the initial strike.
The incident occurred a day after another attack on the same airport resulted in 12 deaths and 309 injuries, as reported by Saudi Arabia's General Authority of Civil Aviation. The authority temporarily suspended operations at the airport to assess damages and conduct safety checks.
King Khalid International Airport had already been targeted twice on October 8, including an attack on a Saudi Arabian Airlines aircraft. These attacks resulted in three Saudi fatalities and injuries to several citizens and residents from various nationalities.
Earlier in the week, attacks on Abha and King Khalid international airports on October 6 and 7 led to the deaths of residents from Morocco, Algeria, and Sudan, injuring 36 others. This latest strike marks the fifth attack on King Khalid International Airport within a week.
Saudi authorities have not yet identified those responsible for the attacks. However, the Houthi group claimed responsibility for targeting the airport with a ballistic missile last Thursday.
