Aleppo: The YPG/SDF terrorist organization seized a hospital in Aleppo's Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood and expelled its medical staff, Syria's Health Ministry said on Saturday.

According to Anadolu Agency, the Health Ministry stated that the PKK terrorist organization and armed groups affiliated with it expelled staff and doctors from Yassin Hospital in the Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood of Aleppo. The facility has been turned into a military point, fortified by the group after they fled from the Syrian Arab Army. The ministry has issued a warning to civilians, advising them to avoid the facility due to safety concerns.

Separately, a military source informed Anadolu Agency that a YPG/SDF terrorist detonated an explosive near Syrian Army forces in Sheikh Maqsoud, though no casualties were reported among the army personnel. The Syrian Army announced on Saturday the completion of a full security sweep of the Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood amid escalating tensions with the YPG/SDF group.

Since Tuesday, the YPG/SDF has been shelling residential neighborhoods, civilian facilities, and Syrian Army positions in Aleppo. These attacks have resulted in the deaths of nine individuals and injuries to 55 others, prompting the displacement of approximately 165,000 residents from the Ashrafieh and Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhoods.

On March 10, 2025, the Syrian presidency announced an agreement for the SDF's integration into state institutions, emphasizing the country's territorial unity and rejecting any attempts at division. However, authorities have noted that the SDF has not demonstrated efforts to fulfill the agreement's terms in the months following the announcement.

The government has increased its efforts to ensure security across the country since the removal of the Assad regime in December 2024, after 24 years in power.
